Abstract
Violence against women is a multi-layered social problem that continues with its physical, psychological, economic and structural dimensions. Gender roles, unequal power relations and insufficient institutional support prevent these forms of violence from being visible and cause them to remain unrecognized. Economic violence, in particular, occurs in the form of preventing women from accessing sources of income, sabotaging their work and controlling their financial independence. The transmission of violence across generations can become permanent through traumas experienced in childhood; education and employment opportunities with social security play a critical role in breaking this cycle. Holistic and inclusive policies that focus not only on protection but also on empowerment should be developed.
